First time I’m doing my “build, provision & deploy in the Cloud” talk. I’ll be using Packer to build a custom compute image, which I’ll provision using Ansible. The end result is a ready-to-use image that is bootable from your Cloud environment.
Terraform is used to boot machines, and to setup the networking infrastructure that is required to run these machines in the Cloud. The machines will boot our custom image that was created by Packer.
The machines contain the full stack:
- Code
- Configuration parameters
- A webserver
- An application runtime
